Halal Food for Non Muslim Too
Halal Food for Non Muslim too, as bottom line is that Halal food is not just about what the food is but how it is prepared. The Halal concept emphasises safety, hygiene and wholesomeness of food. It also provides an excellent platform for healthy eating. Consideration of the place and process of the animals being slaughtered and most importantly, the condition of these animals would not endanger the health of diners, are a prime focus of what Halal is all about. Today, Halal is no longer a mere religious obligation or observance, but is considered as the standard of choice for Muslims as well as non-Muslims worldwide. The Halal concept is not unfamiliar to non-Muslims, especially those in Muslim countries. A good example of consumers’ awareness and understanding with regards to the Halal concept of food products is the rapid increase in annual sales in Halal stores throughout Moscow, Russia, to USD100 million in 2018. According to Canadian Agri-Food Trade Service Report, there is a strong demand for Halal products in a number of non-Muslim countries for both groups of consumers. The Halal products are also growing in popularity among non-Muslim consumers due to humane animal treatment concerns and the […]

The development of these cosmetics and the assessment of their product performance is still in its early stages. The incorporation of its science in the manufacture of most cosmetic products remains insufficient. Moreover, there is a global deficiency of guiding documents on the growth and […]

Faith-based marketing, especially Islamic marketing are limited to few Southeast Asian nations such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Halal food, which is a by-product of faith-based marketing, has not been able to draw adequate attention from the halal product manufacturer or provider in India, the largest consumer of halal foods. The fact that halal products as food items derive their value from religion and society is not surprising. The term “halal” is an Arabic word which means permitted or lawful under Shariah, i.e. Islamic law. The concept of halal influences consumption practices of millions of Muslims across the globe and its not merely a brand element. The global demand for products which adhere to Islamic […]

To be precise, two years before Malaya’s independence dated in August 1957, the humble business beginnings of Aik Cheong Coffee Roaster Sdn. Bhd. took shape. Amidst rustic and quaint surroundings of a little wooden shop along Temple Street in old Melaka Town, dealings in the coffee bean trade were nurtured. Importing coffee beans from Indonesia, the Philippines and South America and then grounding, roasting and packing (all operated manually) for local market consumption were the initial priorities. The nature of the business was much simpler then, and consumers were contented with the few grades of coffee they had to choose from. Ten years down the line, the business was relocated to a slightly later premise in the same vicinity. Subsequently, we moved no less than twice to much bigger plants. Still functioning as a family oriented business our establishment is presently sited on a 8-acre site in the Cheng Industrial Estate some 4 km north-east of the Historic City of Melaka. Coupled with state-of-the-art electronic and mechanical sorting, grading, roasting and packing technologies backed by a highly skilled work force, Aik Cheong is proudly carving a niche for itself in premier Halal brewing and coffee consumption facets both nationwide and internationally. At every century’s horizon, innovation changed the way food was produced, processed, handled, stored, and transported. This unparalleled industrialization presented a newfound challenge to the global economy and food and beverage globalization in traditionally halal food and beverage markets. It wasn’t too long before the American Halal Foundation (AHF) stepped up to the plate (literally). AHF began certifying halal products and became a globally recognized and accredited organization whose symbol epitomizes integrity, authenticity, and wholesomeness to all 1.8 billion halal consumers. GELATIN IN HALAL FOOD PRODUCTION
What is Gelatin Made of? Gelatin in food can be from halal or haram sources. Gelatin is an animal by-product, the partially hydrolyzed collagen tissue of various animal parts . Common sources of gelatin are pigskin, cattle hides, cattle bones, and, less frequently, fish skins and poultry skins. In general, a product label does not indicate the source of the gelatin in halal food, so halal consumers normally avoid products containing gelatin unless they are certified halal. Gelatin is used in many food products, including jellies, ice cream, confectionery, cookies, and cakes. It is also used in nonfood products, including medical products, and in veterinary applications. As Muslim countries have increased imports of food products, there has been growing awareness of the problem gelatin presents to Muslim consumers. Malaysia, Indonesia, and several other Muslim countries now require that imported as well domestic products containing gelatin be produced with halal gelatin. Several gelatin manufacturers in Europe, India, and Pakistan produce halal gelatin. STATUS OF GELATIN IN ISLAM Gelatin’s halal status depends on the nature of raw materials used in its manufacture. Most gelatin is one of two types: i. Type A gelatin is exclusively made from pork skins, and is hence […]
